Baseball Swing Coaching Site Has News for Little League Pitchers
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) July 11, 2008 -- While most parents of Little League pitchers probably don't think much of how their young ones throw as long as they are improving their throw, there is actually news that reveals kids shouldn't be throwing curveballs. SwingCoaching.com, an online resource for baseball swing coaching tips and information, wants Little Leaguers and their parents to know that a published study says they shouldn't throw a curveball until they're 14, and they should throw a slider until 16. Safety in pitching is equally important to safety in baseball swing technique, especially for Little League players.
As a resource for baseball swing technique, SwingCoaching.com strives to share information with baseball players of all ages that will help them improve their swing in a way that is both effective and safe. The site would also like to stress the importance of safety for all Little League pitchers. Since the American Sports Medicine Institute (the publishers of this study) says Little Leaguers should be sticking to fastballs and changeups, they want to pass this information on.
The American Sports Medicine Institute study also shares some information and recommendations regarding resting policies for Little League coaches. If a player pitches 61 or more pitches in a day, according to the ASMI study, three calendar days of rest should be observed. If a player pitches 41 to 60 pitches in a day they should have two days of rest if they pitch 21 to 40 pitches in a day they should have one day of rest, and if they pitch one to 20 pitches in a day they should not need any rest.

The History Of The Baseball Bat
Baseball was a very young sport in the mid-eighteen hundreds, so batters usually made their own bats. This led to a lot of experimentation with the shape and size of the baseball bat. It didn?t take long for players to learn that the best bats were those with rounded barrels. With all the shapes and sizes being used, some rule had to be established about the bat. In 1859, it was established that baseball bats could be no larger than two and a half inches in diameter, though they could be any length. After ten years, a restriction of 42 inches was put on the length of the baseball bat, but still no regulations governing the shape.
